very quite, nice rooms with a balcony and a phantastic view over the sea, direct access to the beach, friendly staff, clean, easy to go to the city center
only breakfeast will be served (french style - toast, butter, marmelade, orange juice and coffee), no lunch, no dinner, but a fridge in each room, currently no restaurant in walking distance, prepare for moskitos
breakfast is advertised as "american" but it is really basic, although it is served in the room...
Truly a wonderful location, cliffside overlooking the Caribbean with Cancun on the horizon. Very short jaunt to the Isla Mujeres south point which was breathtaking. Very picturesque.
The hotel was almost full (10 rooms) and everyone was so quiet and self absorbed. Thought I would get kicked out for sneezing. It's a wonderful hotel for reading, relaxing and avoiding the noise of the rest of the world. It was wonderful for one night for my wife and I but couldn't stay a week. Not recommended for party goers bu for those searching for peaceful tranquility, this is the place.
Our expectations were somewhat high before we even go there, based on the pictures and descriptions of the property; however, La Joya far exceeded our expectations in beauty, comfort, relaxation, tranquility and a list of other features. My wife and I discussed how best to describe it and the best we could come up with, "perhaps not a 5 star hotel but definitely a 5 star experience." It was like vacationing in a post card. Absolutely beautiful!! A true tropical Mexico experience!! We are already making plans for next year.
There was really nothing wrong with our stay and/or the hotel. Beautiful grounds, clean rooms, unbelievable view. It was awesome!!
Small quaint nature of the facility, the room and the views from the balcony were nice, the friendliness of the staff, ability to cook meals for yourself was great, but it was difficult to get food.
Isolated to a certain extent with no transport provided by the hotel... Ability to rent a golf cart by the hour or 1/2 day from the hotel would have been nice. Toast and coffee are not an American breakfast... Our expectation was that muffins and croissants or small ommelettes/toast would be provided. No restaurants close by made mealtimes difficult at times. The beach area was a great disappointment filled with sea urchins - no docks to get out past the weeds and urchins, and no snorkeling equipment available at the hotel. Addition of hair dryers in the rooms would have improved comfort.
The hotel has nice rooms all with great ocean views, very quiet and relaxing. The communal kitchen is a great bonus so you don't have to go out for all your meals.
A bit remote for getting downtown, definitely recommend renting a golf cart.
Good little hotel off the beaten track on the Isla Mujeres. Small, clean, well equipped and hospitable. Stunning views. Great basic breakfast - brought to you on your terrace at a time of your choosing. Great value for Money
About $12 round trip taxi ride to town each time you want to go out.
Excellent location at the seaside.
Breakfast was not very exciting. No fruits were included in tropical Mexico.
The room was beautiful and the scenery cannot be comared to anything. Just amazing! Pure tranquility. From the hammock on the balcony overlooking the caribbean sea and Cancun, to the most beautifully appointed guest rooms, this was the best 2 days out of our 15 night trip to the tropics! The care takers are the nicest people we encountered, and made us feel right at home. Even delivered fresh squeezed fruit juices and toast/ coffee to us each morning. The island is small and a taxi to the main town is only $60pesos ($5USD). You can walk to both sides of the island from this location (actually you can SEE both sides of the island from this location). If you want to relax and rewind, this is THE place to go.
We loved our stay at this Hotel it was a bit hard to find at first, but the rooms were great and the veiw over the water was better. Only problem was none of the staff spoke English except the owner.
The grounds and the rooms are very beautiful and well kept, staff very helpful.15 minute golf cart ride from town, less in a cab[$8 us]. Nice pool for a dip, beautiful views. The beach at hotel not for swimming but minutes away from Playa Norte which is as great a beach as you'll ever find. The price was great,we paid $510 for 2 rooms,6 people, prime time February.Everything in town was booked when we booked these rooms and considerably more expensive,we were not disappointed to be outside of town and had a great time, Dave S
All rooms have a beautiful sea view. The hotel is very quiet and relaxing . beach front although only very small beach but like having own private area. Free wireless internet. Nice swimming pool. Can use kitchen facilities to cook. Free water always available.lovely fresh oj for breakfast.
Breakfast very basic. Only I restaurant open in the evening within walking distance.our room could do with some updating, bathroom etc.
Breakfast served on your own private terrace.
In four nights they didn't change our towels or refill the toilet paper when it ran out.
This place is pure magic! it has the most beautiful view of the private beach and infinity pool from each and every room, there is also a big balcony with hammock. Orio and the staff are amazing, helpful and caring and always with a big smile. he was at our service 24/7. La Joya is not located in the Center of the island, which may sound like a downside, but, it is definitely not. the room was neat and clean, we had a daily maid visit and the hotel restaurant offers a great menu with fair prices. the hotel is very high maintained. we are looking forward coming back to La Joya. the best hotel in Isla Mujeres
I loved it. The porches were my favorite. It was quite and the staff was so kind. I will be back.
The only thing that I have negative is the the beds were hard.
